Victories Feel Good

We have to celebrate the victories!

Christine Gallagher placed a candidate with a client who started this week.

This candidate reached out to her via text.

She posted on Facebook:

This makes a tired, worn-down recruiter happy.

This position was challenging to fill and took quite some time but it was worth it!

I truly am honored to be able to assist our clients with finding the talent they are seeking.

From a candidate that I recently placed with a long time client.

“Thank you for everything, I am very happy that you matched me up somehow to this job that I never would have applied for had I seen it on a job board….”

THIS is where we make a difference!

The candidate never considered applying for this role.

Now, they feel thrilled to start this opportunity!

They’re excited to join your organization!

The Dog and Bone

The dog and his bone

There is a great lesson in all of Aesop’s Fables.

The dog and his bone is very instructive.

It came up in a talk with a business owner this week.

In the fable, a dog finds a bone and is very happy.

He carries the bone with pride.

While crossing over a bridge, he looks down into the water and sees his reflection.

He mistakes this for another dog with another bone.

Getting jealous of the other bone, he reaches toward the water to take it from the “other dog.”

As he does this, his own bone falls into the water, leaving him with nothing.

The moral here is to appreciate what you have and not be greedy.

Which brings us back to our client.

Great guy

Successful company

Has a true need for talent in a hard-to-fill role.

I found him someone.

He told me he liked a lot of his background but wanted to wait until he had others to compare it to.

He said something like, “you don’t marry the first girl you date.”

I said you don’t want to lose that girl either—especially if you don’t even ask her on a first date.

He’s entitled to his thoughts.

I’m not criticizing him; I just see it as a cautionary tale.

Great talent isn’t like waiting at a bus stop.

Another great candidate doesn’t come along every five minutes.

You need to evaluate each candidate on their own, and if you like them, make your move!

It’s never a guarantee that the next one, whenever that is, will be better!
